Mahtama Gandhi

National Holiday today in India, for Gandhi Jayanti. To mark the birthday of the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi.

Sometimes all it takes to change the world, is, not to be changed by it.

As calender dates go in history, today India gets the go-ahead to join the world leaders of nuclear powers. Which reminds me of Einstein on Gandhi.

Click here for more on one of my all time favorites as far as movies go Gandhi- the movie.

October 2nd also marks the birthday of Lal Bahadur Shastri, yet another gentle giant of the Indian freedom struggle. As he was of small height and physique, of him it was said thus in marathi-Murti lahan pan kirti mahan. Small in Stature, Big in Status.

We salute all the people who died so that we may live in freedom. It is a tragedy that the politicians and citizens today fragmented in ideologies and given to greed, do not share the vision or dreams that these people had when they lived and died for a free, united India.
